The BVPT Team
Melissa Church, MS, PT, CGFI | Physical Therapist
Being a physical therapist is a very rewarding occupation and I love the variety of patient diagnoses and daily challenges. I enjoy working with all age ranges and diagnoses. I began working at BVPT in 2003. My goal has always been to educate patients and together work to improve their quality of life. Whether a patient is recovering from a surgery, battling low back pain, or having some other issue, together we determine the problem, then develop strategies to alleviate pain, prevent future injuries, and work to achieve their functional goals.
My patients would describe me as compassionate, efficient, knowledgeable, sincere, hard working, passionate about my job, and having a good sense of humor. I am also very passionate about helping to organize and raise money for The Paulina Cooper Dot-to-Dot 10K & 5K Run/Walk. The race takes place every year in September in Corporate Woods in memory of Paulina, our BVPT owner Ann Todd-Cooper’s daughter, to raise money for pediatric brain tumor research.
My hobbies away from work include spending time with my family and friends, snow skiing, camping, golfing, cooking, and playing with my dogs.
My Education
- 1998: Masters of Physical Therapy Degree from Wichita State University
- 1995: BS in Psychology from Emporia State University
My special training and areas of interest include:
- Titleist Certified Golf Fitness Instructor – Level II (CGFI-II)
- Creating Custom Orthotics and the biomechanics of the foot
- Ola Grimsby Institute Manual Therapy Courses
- Gary Gray Institute Functional Training
- Medicare patients and post operative patients and as a former collegiate basketball player, I enjoy working with athletes and sports medicine injuries

Success Stories
So, if you are inquiring or looking for the best physical therapy unit in the Kansas City area, I can truly recommend Blue Valley Physical Therapy. The greatest compliment I heard over and over from other patients was that they did not want to leave or end their therapy. That shows you how much the therapists make you feel a part of their family. - Brian
